About Us
We believe that anyone who needs legal advice should be able to access it – no matter what their background or income might be. Our free ground-breaking technology helps individuals, community groups and charities provide access to the law for those that need it most.
“It is a fundamental pillar of our democracy that everyone should be able to exercise their legal rights regardless of their background or financial position…That’s why the work of The Jeanie Project is so important, because without it…achieving justice will continue to be out of reach for many people”
Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London

The Jeanie Project by LawWorks is an easy-to-use online platform for anyone who has a legal problem in either Employment, Immigration, or Housing and accessing free legal advice.
It asks a series of questions pertaining to the relevant area of law. The collated answers can then be shared with the people and organisations supporting the individual.
You can either take your client through the platform or ask them to complete it independently and share the answers with you at your next appointment.

Legal advice should be accessible to anyone who needs it no matter their background or income. Our legal system is built on values of fairness and equality, but day in and day out, people cannot access the legal advice and representation they need either because of cuts to Legal Aid, unaffordable legal fees or simply not knowing where to turn.
Where advice is available, it is often under severe pressure due to high demand and resource constraints. Information can fall through the gaps and the service can be slow. The result is the client doesn’t get the advice they desperately need within the necessary time frame. Relatively simple issues can quickly become overwhelming and the consequences can wreck lives and families.

The Jeanie Project is a free service that enables helpseekers or those agencies working with them to collate all of the useful information a reviewing lawyer needs to be able to quickly access whether they can take the legal matter on. Through The Jeanie Project platform, client information is collected in a structured and rigorous way, thereby ensuring critical issues aren’t overlooked.
Pro bono legal advisers do not need to waste time travelling to a physical location and have greater flexibility as to when and where they work on a client’s case. This, in turn, increases the availability of advisers and speeds up the advice process, with clients no longer having to wait weeks for an appointment.
It also means the client deals with one adviser per issue as opposed to different advisers each time they visit an advice clinic for their issue. This reduces the risk of information falling through the gaps and the frustration clients often feel at having to explain their case again with every new adviser.

Housing Section is now live and we plan to expand The Jeanie Project to deal with other areas of law in the future. Watch this space!

There is a growing relationship today between the legal field and technology. With the increasing demand for greater accessibility in pro-bono services, Law Works’ digital team understands technology is becoming a necessary tool in increasing access to justice. We believe we should have services that reflect modern society.
That is why the team at LawWorks is exploring the growing concept of digital services and how they can be utilised to support lawyers and those in need of legal assistance. We are currently developing multiple digital projects and platforms dedicated to Pro-Bono assistance. We believe these platforms have the potential to be impactful in our work and increase access to justice through Pro-Bono services. This is an exciting opportunity to modernise and increase accessibility of free legal advice for both our clients and for our volunteers.
